چکیده

Algorithms for the scheduling of tasks within a parallel program onto available processors generally assume that communication only occurs at the start or end of each task, i.e., a task can only commence execution when all necessary data has been sent to it. This is termed \non-preemptive task scheduling". This paper examines the problem of the preemptive parallel program which is represented by a preemptive task model. A new preemptive scheduling algorithm, named PET, is proposed. Experiments are conducted to illustrate the performance achievable through preemptive task execution and scheduling.

Nowdays, energy consumption as a critical issue in distributed computing systems with high performance has become so green computing tries to energy consumption, carbon footprint and CO2 emissions in high performance computing systems (HPCs) such as clusters, Grid and Cloud that a large number of parallel. Preemptive Task Partitioning Strategy (PTPS) with Fast Preemption in Heterogeneous Distributed Environment

Efficient preemptions in the scheduling of real time systems cause optimal overhead in parallel computing systems. Periodic and sporadic tasks are exists in the real time systems. The periodic tasks may be divided into the synchronous and asynchronous categories. The management of the resource sharing in the parallel computing can be powerfully achieved by preemptive scheduling. Fast preemption...

A Multiprocessor System with Non-Preemptive Earliest-Deadline-First Scheduling Policy: A Performability Study

This paper introduces an analytical method for approximating the performability of a firm realtime system modeled by a multi-server queue. The service discipline in the queue is earliestdeadline- first (EDF), which is an optimal scheduling algorithm. Real-time jobs with exponentially distributed relative deadlines arrive according to a Poisson process. All jobs have deadlines until the end of s...

Preemptive Scheduling for Distributed Systems

Preemptive scheduling is widespread in operating systems and in parallel processing on symmetric multiprocessors. However, in distributed systems it is practically unheard of. Scheduling in distributed systems is an important issue, and has performance impact on parallel processing, load balancing and metacomputing. Non-preemptive scheduling can perform well if the task lengths and processor sp...

Preemptive Task Execution and Scheduling of Parallel Programs in Message-Passing Systems

The scheduling of tasks within a parallel program onto the underlying available processors has been studied for some time. To date, solutions to this problem generally assume that communication only occurs at the start or end of each parallel task, i.e., the child task can only start its execution when all its parent tasks complete and have sent data to it. This is termed \non-preemptive task s...
